Why Pre-Orders?

For much of the 2026 riding season, demand for Obsidian Modular Tool Kits has exceeded our available inventory, keeping many of our kits on pre-order for extended periods.

We know waiting for a product is not ideal.

Rather than compromise product quality or rush production simply to keep kits on the shelf, we use pre-orders to give customers a way to reserve incoming inventory while we continue increasing production capacity.

Our goal is simple: build the product correctly, keep customers informed, and reduce the need for pre-orders as production catches up with demand.

Pre-Orders Reserve Inventory — They Do Not Fund Production

This distinction is important to us.

When you place a pre-order with Obsidian, you are not charged at checkout. Your order simply reserves your place for incoming inventory.

There is no deposit and no long-term authorization hold placed on your card.

Just as importantly, we do not depend on customer pre-order payments to fund production. Our production runs are funded independently, and payment is processed only when your complete kit is in stock, verified, and ready for fulfillment.

We believe that is the right way to offer a pre-order. You can reserve an incoming kit without paying months in advance for a product we are still producing.

The Process-

  • Submit your pre-order to reserve incoming inventory

  • We prepare and verify your complete kit when inventory arrives.

  • Payment is processed when your kit is ready for fulfillment.

  • Tracking information is sent once your shipment is booked, and your order will leave our facility within 1-2 days, if not on the same day. 

We work to keep estimated shipping windows accurate and will communicate if timing changes.
