Important Safety Information

WARNING Read all safety warnings and instructions.

Failure to follow the warnings and instructions could result in injury or damage to the components.

  1. Warnings, cautions, and instructions cannot cover all possible situations that may occur. It must be understood by the operator that common sense and caution are factors that cannot be built into this product, but must be supplied by the user.
  2. Only use as intended. Do not use to pry. Never extend a wrench handle with a pipe, tube, or “cheater bar” for extra leverage. This overloads the tool and can cause sudden breakage.
  3. Use only sockets and bits with the correct drive.
  4. Over torqued axle nuts on new bike models is common. It is recommended to check the torque on all relevant fasteners and set them at the proper torque prior to embarking.
  5. Exposure to corrosive enviroments or storing the tools in damp or wet conditions will lead to corrosion and possible tool failure.

Tool Care and Storage

Cleaning

  • Wipe after use: Remove dust, grease, and debris with a dry or damp rag after each use.
  • Wash when needed: Use mild soap and warm water for stubborn dirt. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners that can ruin surface finishes.
  • Dry completely: Dry all metal parts thoroughly with a clean cloth to stop moisture from causing rust.

Rust Prevention and Storage

  • Apply light oil: Rub a thin layer of machine oil, engine oil (like 5W-30), or dry lube over metal components using a rag or spray, then wipe off the excess.
  • Store properly: Keep tools in a cool, dry location, away from moisture. If the storage bag has been exposed to moisture, or has gotten wet, immediately lay the storage bag open to fully dry and remove and dry all the tools. Ensure the storage bag is fully dry before re-packing.

Caution: Carrying tools in a pannier, tail bag, or tank bag exposes them to vibration and impact, especially during off-road riding. Scratches, surface marring, and surface finish wear may result. To minimize damage, pack tools securely with other items to limit movement.

About Obsidian

Obsidian Engineering of Utah was created by a small group of adventure riders and chopper builders who happen to love engineering—the kind of engineering where you notice something long overdue for change or in dire need of improvement, then engineer ways to make it far better.

When those ideas work, we believe the world deserves to know it.

We won’t claim that our products will change the world, but they may change yours.
We figure this—if you find yourself in a bad situation and, as a result of an Obsidian product, you’re able to turn that catastrophe into an epic story, we have done our job well.

So yeah, that’s it in a nutshell. That’s our “About Us” page.

So, go. Avoid the straight lines. Find adventure. Obsidian will be with you, and you’ll be way better prepared to find what’s out there.
