Effective date: Jan 1st 2026

1. Limited Lifetime Warranty

Obsidian warrants to the original retail purchaser that each covered Obsidian tool component will be free from defects in materials and workmanship when used as intended and maintained with reasonable care.

This is a Limited Lifetime Warranty. It begins on the original retail purchase date and continues for as long as the original retail purchaser owns the covered tool component. It ends when the component is sold, transferred, gifted, or otherwise ceases to be owned by the original retail purchaser. This warranty is not transferable.

2. Covered and excluded components

This warranty applies only to original Obsidian functional tool components, whether included in an Obsidian modular tool system or purchased separately for use with one. This includes the saw-blade mounting base.

The following are not covered by this warranty:

  • The tool case and carry bag.
  • The saw blade, which is a consumable wear item and is detachable from its mounting base and replaceable.
  • Normal wear and tear, including cosmetic wear, finish wear, scratches, fading, corrosion, oxidation, and surface discoloration that does not affect function.
  • Any component not manufactured or supplied by Obsidian.

Nothing in this section limits a customer’s rights for an item that was shipped incorrectly, arrived damaged, or is otherwise nonconforming at delivery where applicable law or Obsidian’s applicable return policy provides a remedy.

3. What Obsidian will do

If Obsidian confirms that a covered tool component has a defect in materials or workmanship, Obsidian will, at its option:

  • Repair the component.
  • Provide a replacement component or a substantially comparable component.
  • If repair or replacement is not reasonably available, provide an appropriate alternative remedy, such as store credit or a refund.

For approved claims in the United States, Obsidian will pay standard ground shipping for the replacement component. If Obsidian asks that a component be returned for inspection, Obsidian will provide a prepaid return label for a U.S. shipment. Obsidian does not pay for expedited shipping unless it agrees in writing.

A repaired or replacement component is covered for the remainder of the original warranty period.

4. What this warranty does not cover

This warranty does not cover defects, damage, or failures caused by:

  • Misuse, abuse, neglect, improper care, improper storage, accidents, impacts, crushing, theft, loss, fire, flood, or other external events.
  • Use contrary to product instructions, use beyond the product’s intended purpose, or use with excessive force or an inappropriate tool, fastener, vehicle, or application.
  • Unauthorized modification, alteration, repair, welding, machining, or the use of non-Obsidian parts or components where that use caused or contributed to the claimed failure.
  • Ordinary consumption of the saw blade or another excluded wear item.
  • A product that has been resold, transferred, purchased secondhand, or acquired from an unauthorized seller.
  • Fitment, compatibility, or tool-selection questions that are unrelated to a manufacturing defect in a covered tool component.

Improper use of a hand tool can cause injury or property damage. Always use the correct tool and procedure for the work being performed, follow applicable vehicle-service guidance, and inspect tools before use.

5. How to request support regarding a warranty-related issue

For support, email info@obsidianengineered.com with the subject line “defect support,” and include: Your name, current shipping address, email address, and phone number.

  1. A description of the issue and how the component was being used.
  2. Clear photographs or video showing the component and claimed defect.

Obsidian may request reasonable additional information and may ask that the affected component be returned for inspection before a remedy is issued.

Obsidian does not use an informal dispute-settlement mechanism as a required condition of warranty service.

6. International claims, shipping, and import charges

This warranty is in addition to, and does not replace, any consumer rights that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.

For approved claims outside the United States, Obsidian will work in good faith to provide the appropriate replacement component or other remedy. Where applicable law permits, and particularly where the claim is made under this commercial warranty rather than a mandatory consumer remedy, the customer may be asked to contribute a reasonable portion of replacement shipping costs. The customer is responsible for duties, taxes, VAT, brokerage, customs-clearance charges, and other import fees imposed by the destination country, unless applicable law requires otherwise or Obsidian expressly agrees otherwise in writing.

Obsidian will provide accurate customs documentation based on the shipment and transaction, but cannot control destination-country import charges.

7. Limits on remedies and legal rights

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Obsidian is not responsible for incidental, consequential, indirect, special, or punitive damages, including labor charges, vehicle damage, loss of use, towing, travel, or shipping delays.

Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you.

This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from State to State. You may also have rights that vary by province or country.

This warranty is governed by the laws of the State of Utah, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where applicable consumer-protection law requires otherwise.

Obsidian may update this policy prospectively. The version in effect on the date of the original retail purchase governs that purchase.
